The circuit
Misano sits next to the town of Misano Adriatico, in the Province of Rimini. It is 4.226 km and has run clockwise since 2006.
The layout is technical and rewards precision over power: tight corner combinations through the middle sector, quick changes of direction and generous run-off. It is also flat, which makes it a calm place to work on technique.

A short history
Misano was designed in 1969 as a 3.488 km circuit and held its first event in 1972. It was lengthened in 1993, and in 2006 it was rebuilt: the direction changed to clockwise, the track was widened to 14 m and safety was upgraded. MotoGP's San Marino and Rimini Riviera Grand Prix has run here since 2007. In 2012 the circuit was renamed for Marco Simoncelli, the rider from nearby Cattolica who died in 2011.
The lap, corner by corner
Corner names and notes from a published track guide:
- Turns 1 to 3, Variante del Parco. A right-left chicane that feeds into a long, fast right to open the lap.
- Turns 4 to 6, Curva del Rio. A tricky sequence that needs throttle control and patience. Get it wrong and you lose time down the next straight.
- Turns 7 and 8. A small kink, then a tight, slow left with a late apex.
- Turns 9 and 10, Curva del Tramonto. A slow right hairpin onto the long back straight.
- Turns 11 to 14, Curvone and Curva del Carro. Three fast rights, then a tight right hairpin. Curvone is taken flat out; the corners after it are the technical part.
- Turns 15 and 16. A fast left, then a medium left where you carry speed and use the camber onto the straight.
What it's like to drive
In a Porsche 911 GT3, Misano is about rhythm. Slow corners link into fast ones, so the skill is a good exit, not a late brake. Being flat, it keeps the car settled, a good place to learn trail braking with your coach. Curvone is where a GT3 RS or a Ferrari F8 Tributo shows its aerodynamic grip. Wide run-off gives first-time drivers room.
Ways to drive Misano
Public car days at Misano are run by organisers who fill the circuit. One organiser's October 2026 days at Misano run six 30-minute sessions a day with a 105 dB noise limit. With Stratos, the whole circuit is hired for up to 15 drivers, with the car, private coaching and hotel arranged.
